MOMPRENEURS: We Werk, Werk, Werk, Werk, Werk!

A “Mompreneur” is defined as a female business owner who is actively balancing the role of mom and the role of entrepreneur. Some may say that Moms are the next thing to God! (I agree) Most of us, as Moms, are designed to juggle so many tasks for our family, friends and loved ones. For single mothers, the regular tasks performed on a daily basis are doubled, tripled and sometimes quadrupled! Oftentimes, Moms are “Senior-Level Executives” as we conduct the role of the President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of our household. We are effective Communicators, Leaders and Mentors with great Networking & Marketing skills, etc. I could go on and on with the many attributes we possess as Moms but if you’re a Mom, have a Mom or interacted with other Moms, you already know that we “Werk.” According to a 2016 report from the Small Business Administration, there are 28.8 million small businesses. Based on a 2015 report from Pew Research stated that women own about 36.2% of small businesses in the US. Out of all the women-owned businesses that exist, it is estimated that 1 in 3 are owned by Moms. Considering small businesses represent more than 99% of business in the US and employ almost half of all private employees, the role of a Mompreneur in regard to our economy and our lives are extremely important.
